Ten of my favorite anime in no particular order

Death Parade

When two people die at roughly the same time, they must play a game to decide who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell. I was pretty in love with this when it was airing, and it's still a really good show to binge through in a weekend. The opening is pretty kick-ass. You can stream it on: Funimation

Hunter x Hunter

The story follows 10 year old Gon Freecss as he journeys to become a Hunter and find his elusive father. Hunter x Hunter is Shounen done right. The characters are great, the story and world are wonderful, this is one of the best of its genre. You can stream it on: Crunchyroll, Netflix

Gurren Lagann

Simon and his bro Kamina live under ground. That is until a giant mech bursts through the ceiling and wreaks havoc. With the ceiling now wide open, Simon and Kamina make their way to the surface world, and begin their adventure. Just who the hell do you think we are? Gurren Lagann is a love letter to the mecha franchise and the directorial debut of Hiroyuki Imaishi (Panty and Stocking, Kill la Kill). Featuring quick stylistic art work and insane over the top action, its no wonder this became the hit it is. You can stream it on: Netflix

No Game No Life

Sibling shut ins Sora and Shiro hate the world they live in. Luckily, a god named Tet decides to send them off to a brand new world, where games control everything. NGNL is big dumb fun. Here's hoping it gets a 2nd season. You can stream it on: Crunchyroll

Samurai Champloo

A fifteen year old tea house worker teams up with two very dangerous samurai on a mission to find a samurai who smells of sunflowers. From Shinichiro Watanabe(Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy, Terror in Resonance) comes a road trip through Edo Japan with hip-hop influences and a kick-ass soundtrack. I feel like this is one of his underrated works. You can stream it on: Funimation

Trigun

Vash the Stampede is the most wanted man in the world, with a running bounty of $$60,000,000,000.00. When push comes to shove however, he's really just a big goof ball who hates killing. Trigun is one of my favorites simply because there are very few other anime that occupy its genre (Space western, with way more emphasis on the western). It's also really good You can stream it on: Funimation

Eden of the East

A man wakes up in front of the White House. He's got no clothing, no memory, a gun, and a cell phone with 8.2 billion yen on it. Time to figure out the puzzle. I'm a sucker for these kinds of stories, and Eden of the East fully delivered. It has no second season, but it is continued through two movies that are also quite good. You can stream it on: Funimation

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure

The story follows the Joestar family through the generations starting with Jonathan Joestar. Jojo is an absolute gem. It's wacky, it's stylish, and it's easy to see why this is one of Japan's most iconic media franchises ever created. You can stream it on: Crunchyroll

Fate/Zero

Seven heroic spirits are summoned by seven mages in order to do battle for the Holy Grail. The Fate series is a beast of a franchise, and I feel Fate/Zero is one of the best starts for newcomers. Be warned, Gen Urobuchi(Madoka, Psycho-Pass) is famous for writing despair filled stories. You can stream it on: Crunchyroll, Netflix

Baccano!

Mafia, bootleggers, thieves, and a railway murderer are only a taste of the adventure you'll find in 1930s America. Baccano(and its cousin series Durarara) is famous for its multiple direction style of story telling. The show is constantly jumping through different character perspectives and can be a little hard to follow for those not used to watching these kinds of shows. Also, I try not to tell people what language to watch anime in, but Baccano! has one of the best English dubs ever made, and I'd watch it dubbed a thousand times before I watched it subbed
